Dr. Dianne Johnson
Dr Johnson bought the practice she had been working at for many years on May 1st, 2016. She is excited to be able to continue to serve the community.
Originally from Barnum, Iowa, she graduated from Buena Vista University in 1985 , got accepted into Iowa State University Veterinary Program and graduated from ISU in 1989. The couple moved to Sloan, Iowa where she bought her own practice. After moving to Storm Lake in 1998, she started working part-time for Dr. A. A. Stepan. When he retired, she sold her practice in Sloan, and bought Lake Animal Hospital.
Dr Johnson & her Husband Jerry, who is Assistant Professor of Digital Media at Buena Vista University, have 2 grown children Darren & Emily, a dog "Gracie" and a cat named "Amber"
Dr. Chris Bean
Dr Bean is an Associate Veterinarian that came to work at Lake Animal Hospital in August of 2016. She practiced in a mixed animal practice for several years in Storm Lake before joining the Lake Animal Hospital Team.
In May of 2015, she was confirmed by the Governer to serve on the Iowa State Board of Veterinary Medicine and is starting her 2nd term on the State Board.
Originally from Sioux City, Iowa, she graduated from Briar Cliff University in 1996 majoring in Chemistry & Biology. She was accepted into Iowa State University's Veterinary School and graduated in 2000. Her Husband, C.J. is a farmer & and they keep busy raising 5 children, a dog named "Wren," a cat named "Autumn" and a pet chicken named "Karen". They have numerous animals that the kids show in 4-H and are learning great animal husbandry. She also volunteers as a 4-H leader for the Fairfield Pioneers in Albert City.
Lori Nehring has been working at Lake Animal Hospital for a total of 23 years. She started as an intern in her Junior year (1976) through a intern program that her Albert City-Truesdale High School offered. She took 17 years off to raise her children. Her deep love of animals started on her family's farm. Luckily, her husband loves animals too! Both were raised on farms in B.V. County & have been here their whole lives. They continue to have a menagerie of animals including eight rescue dogs , "Lady," a Lab, "Sheik," a husky mix, "Raider" a St Bernard, "Kela," a German Shepherd, "Timber," a husky mix, "Indie," a Aussie, Bentley," & "Bella, both schnauzers, too numerous to count outside rescue cats (all spayed & neutered of course!) , 2 very old horses 'Foxy & Misty", 1 naughty rescued goat "George Clooney" and 1 even naughtier rescued ram "Onslow"!
Her husband, Mark and she celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary in 2017. They have two adult daughters and will be adding two sons-in-law soon.
She is an Strong Advocate of Spaying/Neutering, spreading the word on pet over-population & fighting against animal abuse.
Lori has been Animal Adoption Coordinator since 2003 and Office manager for 9 years.
Jasmin was born in Elgin, Illinois in 1994. When she was 9 years old, her family moved back to Mexico, were she grew up. At 16 years old, she decided to come back to the states to continue her education here. Just her sister and her came to the states, leaving her parents in Mexico.
She lives in Fonda, Iowa, Graduating in 2014 from Newell-Fonda High School. She then applied and got accepted in to Iowa Lakes Community College Veterinary Technician program where she graduated in 2016. It was hard for her because she was still mastering English, but she made it!
She did her Internship here at Lake Animal Hospital and was hired here right after graduation, May 2016.
She adopted 3 rats from college, has a gerbil, a bunny and two dogs. She loves animals and is very sensitive when it comes to hurting them, she is even a Vegetarian!
Jasmin is our head Licensed Vet Tech.
Richelle came to work at Lake Animal Hospital in 2013. She is a part time kennel worker and Vet Assistant. She has a young son and is continuing her education at Buena Vista University with hopes of becoming a Veterinarian.
